The Students’ Ability in Writing Recount Text: A Case of Second Grade Students at SMA Muhammadiyah Gombong, Kebumen in the Academic Year of 2012/2013. A thesis. Teacher Training and Educational Science Faculty. English Department 2012. Most of students in Indonesia consider that English is adifficult foreign language. Because of that assumption, English is a difficult foreign language; the teachers often get difficulties in teaching English. At least, they have to find interesting strategy that can make the students interested in learning english. Moreover, for the senior high school students, English is considered as a difficulties subject. Considering the fact above, I tries to conduct the research about teaching writing using recount text for second grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Gombong. I want to know how is the students’ ability in writing recount text and Can writing recount text improve students’ writing skill? To collect data from the population, I test their writing recount text administrated to 34 students of second grade students which is at SMA Muhammadiyah Gombong, Kebumen. The test was conducted on 5 and 9 November 2012. And, to analyze the data, I use a descriptive quantitative research. In this research, the writer gives the test to the students and asks them to write recount text . The result is based on the surface strategy in error analysis . the students get difficulty in structure (grammar) such as omission (85 sentences), addition (67 sentences), misformation (32 sentences), misordering (21 sentences).
