Consultant: Juita Triana, M.Pd Key words: Grammatical Cohesion, Reading Text Reading text is a defined as the cognitive process of understanding a written linguistic message. To be regarded as a good reading text, the language used in the textbook must be held together cohesively so, the reader or hearer is easy to understand the text. This study investigates the kinds of grammatical cohesion that appears in the reading text of ten Senior High School. The objective of this study is to find out the dominant kind of grammatical cohesion in the reading texts. This research is designed as a descriptive qualitative research because the data that the researcher attempted to observe is finding grammatical cohesion in reading text. The writer uses some instruments to support him in conducting the research. Some supporting instruments are the object's work and English dictionary. The data were collected from reading text of ten year Senior High School EBook entitled” Developing English Competencies” published by Setia Purna Invest. In this research, the writer uses simple random sampling technique. He did two steps before analyzing the text, such as selecting the eBook and selecting the reading text. The result of this study shows that the four forms of grammatical cohesion appear in the text. They are reference (74.60%), substitution (2.67%), ellipsis (3.48 %), and conjunction (19.25%). However, the most dominant of grammatical cohesion used in the text is reference. It is the highest number in percentage of 74.60 %.
