Detil Spesifik | ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF TUTORIAL CONDUCT ON READING AS PREPARATION FOR TOEIC TEST TOWARD READING STUDENT’S SCORE IN SIXTH SEMESTER OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT MUHAMMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF PURWOREJO IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2011/2012 By Dwi Novita Anggraeni 082120055 Keywords: influence, tutorial, reading test, TOEIC test. In Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo, preparation program is called as tutoring. The word tutoring refers to the act of a teaching or instructor (called a tutor) helping a person learn something about a subject. In general, it refers to the relationship between a private teacher/instructor helping a student with school work. The purpose of tutoring is to help students’ help themselves, or to assist or guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner, and thus no longer need a tutor.The ultimate purpose of tutoring is to create independent learners. Tutors should, essentially, work themselves out of a job—at least with individual tutees. The objective of this research is to find out whether there is any influence between tutorial and students’ reading score in TOEIC test. The writer attempts the observation in Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo. In this research, the writer took 64 students as the sample. The writer then statistically analyzed the data by using paired-sample test in SPSS version 13. After analyzing the data, the result of t test is Sig.0.000; based on the 0.05 significant level. The requirement of the accepted Ha is when the Sig. level is lower than the significant level. So, it can be said that the result of the cultivated data is influence. Based on the writer findings on their research there are three things. First, most of the students are agree that tutoring gives influence to their reading score test. Second, the mean of the students reading comprehention is 374,69 and it’s categorized as good. Three, there is a positive influence between tutoring reading and students TOEIC score.From the amount of sample (N=64) and the level significant (5%),the value of Sig (2-tailed0 is 0.000 lower than the value of P (0,05). So,it can be concuded that the tutorial conduct on reading as preparation for TOEIC test give influence to the student’s score on reading section. |
